Blinking City patterns are based on collages of several Hutong neighbourhoods of Beijing transferred onto interactive everchanging lenticular discs that vary according to the movements of viewer. Maps are inspired from the typical tables of analysis made by urban planners and feature 14 colours or “layers”. Thanks to NY based game designer Eric Zimmerman and architect Nathalie Pozzi who gave a meaning to each layer and wrote a legend in which every single house becomes important because of the activities of people who live in it, rather than because its physical qualities.
